Shanghai SECCO Petrochemical Company Limited is a joint venture formed by China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec), Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Company Limited, and BP East China Investment Company Limited, with respective investments of 30%, 20%, and 50%. Shanghai SECCO has eight major production units, demonstrating a world-class integrated upstream and downstream configuration that embodies economies of scale. Among them, the 1.09 million tons/year ethylene unit is one of the largest single-line ethylene facilities in the world. The remaining seven units also reach world-scale capacities, including a 600,000 tons/year polyethylene unit, a 650,000 tons/year styrene unit, a 500,000 tons/year aromatics extraction unit, a 300,000 tons/year polystyrene unit, a 260,000 tons/year acrylonitrile unit, a 250,000 tons/year polypropylene unit, and a 90,000 tons/year butadiene unit.
